Planning Permission

Does My Project Require A Planning Application?

Permitted Development rights

Under permitted development rights, most homeowners are permitted to undertake common building projects including loft conversions and extensions. No requirement currently exists for these common projects to be notified, providing your project falls within the permitted development guidelines. At LCR services we have a clear understanding of this legislation and more than happy to advise on this.

Neighbourhood consultation scheme

In 2013 an additional allowance to permitted development rights was decided by parliament. The scheme originally were due to expire in 2016 however this has been extended until May 2019. The neighbourhood consultation scheme was intended to cut the number of planning application local authorities had to process which would ordinarily be approved. The scheme permits householder to build a larger than average extension, without the need for a planning application subject to consultation with any adjoining properties. In most cases, homeowners of terraced or semi-detached properties are permitted to build up to 6m from the rear of their property and detached properties 8m.
